The Favourite Hobby :)

Hobbies almost naturally come to us human and starting them on one or some hobbies should be no effort at all. It is generally acknowledged that hobbies are beneficial to everyone. Hobbies are not only a source of entertainment for us thus  they can also be a way for mankind to express and develop the latent talents and inborn genius inside them,or hobbies like sports, for example, can help us become physically stronger and energetic , sports also foster team spirit, sportsmanship and respect for rules and fair play.

Everyone have their own hobbies right? It’s biggest lie if you said that you don’t even have even a single hobby. Shame on you HAHA cause that’s a lame life you’re living in. Seriously~ No offence okay I’m just giving out my opinion only heee

Okay okay I’m so out of my topics seriously HAHA. Back to my main topic that is my eternal hobby that is BADMINTON yeayy! Badminton is my favourite sports which is highly enjoyable game and a hobby that can help you stay fit. It is among the rare sports that men and women play together. People of all ages can play it. However, you need to have a high level of fitness to play professionally. As you progress in your game, playing badminton is also a great way to make new friends at your local club or sports centre.

In addition to being a fun game, badminton also brings several health benefits, whether you choose to play it as a hobby or on a professional level. Just thirty minutes of play on a regular basis can help you maintain a healthy heart and give you a complete body work out, while helping improve your overall health. It helps strengthen your muscles and keeps you flexible as you move around the badminton court.

It is played with racquets and a shuttlecock. The shuttlecock is made from goose feathers pushed into a small  piece of cork.  Badminton racquets are light, with top quality racquets weighing between 75 and 95 grams (2.6 to 3.3 ounces) including the strings. They are composed of many different materials ranging from carbon fibre composite (graphite reinforced plastic) to solid steel, which may be augmented by a variety of materials.

Carbon fiber has an excellent strength to weight ratio, is stiff, and gives excellent kinetic energy transfer. Before carbon fiber composite, racquets used to be made of light metals and wood. Nowadays, nanomaterials such as fullerene and carbon nanotubes are added to rackets giving them greater durability. There is a wide variety of racquet designs, although the laws limit the racquet size and shape.

There are six main shots: the serve, the clear, the drop, the smash, the forehand drive and the backhand drive.  The court on which badminton is played is in the shape of a rectangle and is divided in half by a net. When there are only two players, one on each side of the net, it is a singles game.  Badminton takes its name from the home of the Duke of Beaufort, Badminton House in Gloucestershire, England where the first game of badminton was played.

I've started playing badminton when I was 5 years old with my cousin. I'd never had a formal coach, I just learnt everything from my cousin when he is 7 years old that time. We used to play it outside of my house huhu so lame. Without him I wouldn't know how to play badminton professionally till now. I had myself represented to the state level which is an open tournament in 2013 organized by SBA(Sarawak Badminton Association) in Kuching.

During that time I'm an individual participant without any team. There are so many teams from Miri and Sibu which majority of them is Chinese player. There's only 5 Malay participant including me and 2 Indian player. Unfortunately,I only gets to third match then I can proceed to the semi final but that time was a very enjoyable moment and experience, I would never forget it. After that tournament I totally retire playing badmiton to focus on my studies :)

World Champion Dato' Lee Chong Wei and Lin Dan

I’ll talk about the awesome fact badminton. My most  favourite fact of badminton sport is the fastest racquet sports in the world!!

Can you suggest the speed  of the shuttlecock when it is smashed by the badminton racquet?!? Done guessing it? The shuttle clocking speed in excess off 200mph which exceeded 300km/h~ I'll show you the latest video of fastest smash record holder :3
You can read the news about that record; http://sputniknews.com/sport/20130823/182930446.html

Another fact is sixteen feathers are used to make a badminton shuttlecock and all of them come from only the left wing of a goose hahhaha sounds ridiculous but without it the shuttlecock can be made aerodynamically.

The record for the longest badminton match is 124 minutes, between Peter Rasmussen of Denmark and Sun Jun of China. If I'm on their place
maybe I already fainted xD

In one match, a badminton player will run, step and jump the equivalent of 2 kilometres or 1.25 miles. You don't need to go jogging anywhere just to reach that distance thus badminton also very entertaining than jogging.

Professional badminton players often jump two feet in the air to make a shot and are considered some of the most fit athletes in the world. A badminton players can jump higher than the basketball player if you don't believe it seriously.

Badminton was made an official Olympic sport in the 1992 Olympic games in Barcelona Spain.More than 1.1 billion people watched the 1992 Olympic Badminton competition on television. Wahhh can you believe it how crowded would it be around the court wuuu

O_o Badminton also the second most popular sport in the world, after soccer.

Last but not least,I think that's all the fact I can list out now, there's so much fact that I still need to discover.Once you decide you want to take up badminton as a hobby, you will enjoy the benefits of becoming fit and healthy. Make sure you get your gear in place and know the rules before you jump right in. Badminton is a high energy sport, and when you decide to play competitively, you will need to ensure that you are in great shape, physically. Nothing can substitute hard work and passion when it comes to a sport, and when you are ready to put in both, you have a great game to enjoy.
